How long is a book checked out?

  • A book checks out for 28 days at a time and may be renewed twice. Renewals may be done in the following ways:
    • Stop by the library, we'll be happy to renew your book for you!
    • Call 706-649-1852 and we'll renew your book over the phone.
    • Go to your Student Library Account and renew it yourself.
  • Books CANNOT be renewed if another patron has requested the materials.

What can I not check out?

  • Magazines, any item with a REF call number in the Reference section, anything on course reserve RIL, and newspapers cannot be checked out.

Where can I pick up a book on course reserve?

  • These items can be picked up at the Circulation Desk. In the Catalog, an item that says Reserve In-Library or has a call number RIL can only be checked out for 2 hours to allow all students access to the material.

Where are the Computer Programs or call number CP located?

  • Instruction related computer program disks are located behind the Circulation Desk. Please ask for assistance if you wish to check out a computer program.

Where are the DVD’s located?

  • Cases for all CTC Library DVD’s are located on the periodical shelves in the main library. To check out a DVD bring the empty case of the item you wish to check out to the Circulation Desk.

How are fines and fees calculated?

  • There are no daily overdue fees. Materials checked out should be returned in good condition by the due date. If an item is damaged, mutilated, or lost and not returned, you must pay the full cost of the material and an additional $10 processing fee.
  • Dual Enrollment Textbooks must be returned on time at the end of the semester they were checked out. If you fail to return the book, you will have a hold placed on your student Banner account. You will not be able to register for courses until the book is returned or paid for. If the book is lost, you will be charged $75 to remove the hold.

What happens if I do not pay my lost or damaged material fees?

  • A Banner Hold will be placed on your account and you will not be able to register for classes. You will also not be able to graduate or receive transcripts until your library account has been cleared.
