Introduction to the Library Program

Columbus Technical College (CTC) Library is committed to providing access to information resources needed to support the educational programs offered by CTC. Librarians provide faculty and students with research assistance and instruction in how to use library resources efficiently and they encourage life-long learning, critical thinking skills, and promote information literacy. The library's collections include; books and e-books, journals, e-newspapers and information databases.

The Library's physical facilities include:

  • Lounge seating areas.
  • Two computer labs with printing and scanning equipment; one lab can be used as a classroom and has presentation equipment
  • A classroom with computers and presentation equipment
  • Five individual study rooms and a group study room that holds 8-10 people comfortably, Each individual study room has a computer and the the group study room has a whiteboard and smartboard.
  • Calculators, webcams, microphones and mobile whiteboards are available upon request.
  • A law library and a mini anatomy lab is located within the library.

  • Test Prep information
  • Information databases and GALILEO
  • Newspapers in electronic format

Services

Research Assistance:

  • Librarians are on duty to assist with research assignment and/or projects anytime the library is open. To request help stop by library and ask to speak with a librarian or call the library at 706-649-1852.
  • If you need research assistance outside the library's operational hours you can use the library's Chat Service. This service is available 24/7 except for Christmas Day. 

Proctoring:

  • To schedule a proctor for a test or assignment send an email to, library@columbustech.edu requesting an appointment to to have an assignment/test proctored. Include your contact information, any special requirements and your instructor's contact information in the email.
  • Students should request a proctor at least three business days in advance of the desired proctoring date/time.
  • Proctors are available Monday - Thursday from 7:30AM - 5:30PM.  Tests must be completed by 5:30PM on the date scheduled. Example: If you are allowed 1 hour to complete your test you must start the test no later 4:30PM.

Printing, Scanning, Faxing and Laminating:

  • Printing is available from all of the library's computers, the cost is 10 cents a page for black and white copies and 50 cents for color copies. CTC provides all students with a $10.00 account for printing each semester. Students may add funds to their account at the library circulation desk (cash only) or at the administration office in the Hartline building.
  • Scanning is free from the library's Scan-X machine. The Scan-X machine will scan documents to your email address.
  • Faxing is free when using a local or 1-800 phone number.
  • Laminating documents costs 50 cents and must be paid in cash

Inter-Library Loan (ILL) and TECH Share:

  • ILL is a service provided to allow students to borrow and item from a library outside our community. If our library does not have the item you need stop you can request ILL service by stopping by the library circulation desk or by emailing your request to library@columbustech.edu. TECH Share allows students to request items found in the Primo Online Catalog. Select the GET IT button in the item record to request items from Columbus Tech and other TCSG schools. Textbooks may not be checked out through ILL or TECH Share.
